October (Melbourne and Rye)

Just a quick update this month as we have had a pleasantly quiet few weeks. As I write this, we have been in Melbourne (or Rye) for a WHOLE.4.WEEKS. Whacko!! I could say that I have cleaned the house from top to bottom and the same at Rye but that would be a lie 😂

I have done a few things – unpack is one 🤣 – but, generally, we have just got back into a bit of a rhythm. The dogs have gone back to being walked daily, the daughters have meals cooked for them (sometimes!) and we have caught up with family and friends. Our granddaughter is due to be born next week (first baby so who knows???) We are all verrrrry excited.

A few days after we got home we threw a Baby Shower for A which was a beautiful afternoon of pink, pink and more pink! My girls did a lot of work with “the vision” and it was a lovely day.

A few days later, it was time for our daughter-in-law to be, K, to turn 30. A and M turn 30 in coming months so it was the first of three 30th birthdays in the next three months. We had a fun dinner together with K’s family.

We’ve been back and forth to Rye, getting weeds under control and I have beavered away on some travel stories. I had a story commissioned by each of ESCAPE and also MiNDFOOD which is super exciting.

Our YouTube channel is fast approaching 60,000 subscribers (wow!) and we have episodes out now about Uniworld (the destinations of our cruise) and our Intrepid tour of Morocco. Azamara will follow next month then we’ll film again in December when we cruise the Mekong and stay at luxury Song Saa Private Island. Luckeeee!

We’re also planning for some trips for next year. Watch this space!

We’ve been to cruise presentations by Scenic, Emerald and Ponant and been into town to see “MJ The Musical” (fabulous!) and the new MECCA and Rodd and Gunn flagship stores. Generally, just enjoyed a slower pace for a few weeks.

We’re off early tomorrow to Bendigo for the Australian Society of Travel Writers Convention. Looking forward to knowing a few more people than I did last year and enjoying (rather than fearing) the two days. Andrew is dropping me there and going fishing so he’s happy too!

Excitement of excitements…My first book is available for sale tomorrow (30 October) - https://pegasuspublishers.com/books/coming-soon-_-october-2025/when-harry-got-lost I received a few copies today (it’s published in England). Super excited to hold it in my hands. I can’t wait to read Harry’s story to my grandchild/grandchildren! Leonie Jarrett, published author 😊

A few travel stories have been published this month, some of which have a nostalgia element as well:
